Quick principles

Simple rules that protect your finish

🧽

Use soft tools

Microfibre cloths & soft sponges only. No scourers or magic erasers on delicate paints.

🧴

Mild, pH‑neutral

Start with warm water. If needed, add a few drops of pH‑neutral detergent. Rinse, then pat dry.

🥵

Avoid heat & steam

Don’t blast walls with steam mops or hot air. It can soften and mark the coating.

🛡️

Protect high‑wear

Door handles, kick areas & corners love clear bumpers, felt pads and floor mats.

Surface guides

Care by surface

Weekly

  • Dust with a dry microfibre mop — gentle, no pressure.
  • Spot clean marks with warm water; dab, don’t scrub.

Monthly

  • Wipe high‑touch zones (switches, handles) with diluted pH‑neutral detergent, then rinse.
  • Check skirtings & corners; add clear bumpers where needed.

Monthly

  • Wipe with damp microfibre; follow grain on timber.
  • Use a tiny amount of mild detergent for hand oils.

Annually

  • Inspect for chips; see Touch‑up Coach.
  • Re‑caulk micro gaps at trims if movement appears.

Quarterly

  • Hose down gently to remove salts & dust; soft brush on grime.
  • Wash coastal homes more often (every 6–8 weeks).

Annually

  • Inspect for hairline cracks and caulking; note for service.
  • Trim foliage away from walls.

Seasonal

  • Soft‑wash with timber‑safe cleaner; rinse thoroughly.
  • Check for standing water & re‑fix loose boards.

Re‑coat

  • Typical every 6–18 months depending on exposure. We’ll advise the optimal cycle.

Weekly

  • Dust mop or vacuum with soft head.
  • Spot clean spills promptly.

Monthly

  • Mop with warm water + a splash of pH‑neutral cleaner; squeegee dry.
  • Use non‑marking tyres or mats where vehicles park.

Small chip? Follow these steps

  1. Gather: small brush/mini roller, matching paint, fine sandpaper (320+), clean cloth, low‑tack tape.
  2. Clean: wipe dust & oils; allow to dry.
  3. Feather: sand lightly around the chip to blur edges. Dust off.
  4. Prime (if needed): spot‑prime raw plaster/timber or stained areas.
  5. Apply: dab thin layers; match texture (roller for walls, brush for trims). Let each coat flash off.
  6. Blend: extend final pass slightly beyond repair; avoid heavy overlap to prevent “flashing”.

For large areas, colour change, water damage or unknown stains, book a visit — we’ll assess and make it perfect.

FAQ

Common care questions

How often will I need to repaint?

Every home is different. Interiors typically 6–10 years for walls and 3–5 for trims; exteriors 8–15 years depending on exposure. Decks vary 6–18 months. We’ll give tailored guidance after seeing your home.

What’s the best cloth for walls?

Soft microfibre is ideal. Avoid abrasive pads or melamine sponges on low‑sheen paints as they can burnish.

Is bleach okay outside?

Use dedicated exterior/mould cleaners per label. Strong bleach can damage coatings and nearby plants. Always test first and rinse well.
